Time is running out on these families....now is the time to help!
The current state of the foster care system is in crisis with no coordination on the federal level. Each state runs their own foster system with some government subsidies from the federal level, but it is not coordinated efficiently. Various individual states have spent millions of dollars on trying to establish a computer system that would track the foster children as they move in and out of the different states. Foster care training and rules for licensing vary from state to state with differences in the training of potential foster parents at each level. There is friction between the state and federal efforts to enhance the foster care system. The persons most at risk in this situation are the children in foster care. There must be attention and funding given to revamp the foster care system.
